Screenwriters, this is the BTFC meeting you should not miss. Every every month the writers in the group come together to share work, listen to the work of other writers, and also take advantage of the monthly screenwriter educational resource. This has been one of our most popular meetings for over a year now, and for good reason.Last month our educational resource was a digital download of the pilot scripts for Scandal, Grey's Anatomy, How to Get Away With Murder, Lost and Netflix's House of Cards. These are Emmy award winning shows, powered by awesome scripts. As writers, we get better by both reading and writing. For a copy of the packet, click here. During the last screenwriter's committee, we also had the fortune to table read works by three BTFC screenwriters. works included a webseries drama on relationships, a short film examining the policing of black men in America, and a TV series drama pilot draft. The work made us laugh out loud, feel a sense of connection and more. The feedback and constructive suggestions as we went around the room equally so.For this coming month, if you would like the opportunity to have your work read aloud, receive encouragement and feedback, please drop us a note through the contact us section of the site. Shared excerpts should be no longer than 8 pages. The educational resource for this coming month has not yet been set, but to give you a better idea of what we do in addition to the table reads, in past committee meetings, we have spoken with Reggie Bythewood, Michael Starburry, Devanshi Patel and Sheldon Candis, to name a few.Lastly, we set goals for ourselves to help achieve over the following 30 days and help to hold one another accountable. If you are a writer, the writers committee is a great resource!
