The Directing Series is a discussion and building space for those who wish to direct and want to develop new skills or reinforce existing ones. Over the course of this series we will sample the art of the director’s job, covering everything from casting, scheduling, and story-boarding, to shooting, effective communication with actors, collaborating with cinematographers and dealing with producers. The Director’s Vision is intended to be a springboard for people wishing to learn more about the craft of directing. This month's directing focus will be on composition. Composition is the foundation of filmmaking. During our session, we'll review the basics of traditional film composition from the rule of thirds to two point perspective. We'll practice shooting with our phones and gain a better understanding of how effective shots are made and how they help tell a visual story. In the process we'll also watch clips from some pretty cool films and eat lots of buttery popcorn. See you on Saturday April 8th!
