The strength of the Black TV & Film Collective is best highlighted by our membership – an artistic and professional community of individuals with the shared goal of telling great stories.
We are a growing collective of screenwriters, producers, directors, cinematographers, editors, actors, animators and all around creative storytellers. Many of our collective members move their projects forward through the support of fellow members and the leadership team.
Get to know fellow members. It’s the best advice we can give you on maximizing your membership!
My love of sports goes back as far I can remember. I'm certain that's what gave me my
thirst for cinema. Sports sometimes, isn't looked at as creative. Not true. It's creativity at a faster pace. Segway from athlete to musician, (percussionist), to aspiring writer. The goal is to write, direct and produce.
I'm want others to go on the emotional roller coaster I ride when watching a good movie. It doesn't have to be a blockbuster, it just has to be well written, directed and produced. In fact, my favorite films have 3-4 main characters. The writing is paramount.
With over 20+years as a Strategic Planning Publicist and Event Planner in the entertainment industry, I know where I want to take this. The BlackTVFilm Collective can be my vehicle.
I look forward to meeting you all, learning from your vast pool of talented professionals and making some new friends along the way.
Hope to see you soon. Best Regards

A storyteller who earned her BA in TelevisIon and Radio from Brooklyn College. She previously studied Mass Communications for 2 years at Nyack College where in that time she was also a writer for the Nyack Journal. She is a professional event photographer and videographer who is skilled with Canon and Nikon, Adobe Creative Suite, and Apple Pro Apps Production Suite. Her photography is archived at @snappedbyjams on Instagram and at www.jamilahsimone.com. Activism shapes her storytelling. She was the Communications Chair of the New York chapter Black Youth Project 100 NYC for two years, and she is currently on the board of the local community organization East Harlem Preservation as the Treasurer. As a community organizer, she leans into using media to highlight stories by those marginalized instead of simply “diversifying” the current landscape with tokenization or race-swapped re-tellings of stories. She has completed multiple communications and narrative-building trainings and has facilitated conversations around the intersections of race, class, and gender - all of which inform her work.
