We’re back at it again with bringing you a web series that keeps it real. Beautiful Ugly is a show that ties in the hardened street life with real values that hit home. The main character, Rock, is struggling to balance his relationship, passion for art and notorious street cred as the plot unfolds with the murder of his cousin. Trying to hold everything in, he continues to reflect on himself as he uses the analogy of flowers in soil to sum up his life’s choices. While the soil is something that people may see as just dirt, it creates something beautiful.

“Beauty is grown outta what most people would call ugly,” says Rock.

Hood-dramas sometimes get overlooked because of their repetitive violent themes. However, shows like Beautiful Ugly help us relate to the experiences we’ve endured that perhaps produced something positive. While hood life is an actual thing, it is life nonetheless. So it’s easy to have a negative illustration of a place that inhabits so many of our people. In this case, we can consider the “glass half full” motto while watching. See how Rock and his crew find their way in the gritty south of Atlanta as they cope with love, loss, family and revenge.  Season 1 is now streaming on YouTube.
