Calling All Screenwriters: the Writer’s Room
Take advantage of this opportunity to share your work, listen to the work of other screenwriters, and to receive and offer feedback and encouragement. Whether you’re a seasoned pro, or just starting out, or if your script is a rough draft or ready for production, this event is a great opportunity for you!
Screenwriting can be a lonely process and refuge of the somewhat recluse. In our creative spaces sometimes we find ourselves isolated, but the Writer’s Room provides an opportunity for our words to come to life. Hearing your dialogue in real time will help to hash out those points of contention, highlight intersections that are not quite connecting, and basically, give you an accurate measure of how your writing is connecting.
Every month is a read-a-thon. During this time, we usually read about 4- 5 works. If everyone shows up on time, we can do more. Last month we had some awesome screenwriters in the room and this month should be no different! Please note, scripts are read on a first come, first read basis, so if you would like your screenplay table read, please arrive on time.
Please be considerate of other screenwriters seeking to take advantage of this opportunity and limit your submission to a maximum of ten pages. After each reading, we engage in a short discussion, in which we share our thoughts on the submitted work and offer input. Once again, we ask you be considerate of other screenwriters and keep these exchanges concise and actionable.
This is also a great networking opportunity for actors! Come and lend your skills, show off your talent, and land that role before the casting call even goes out!
