From Idea to Draft – Peer Support Writing Group
Announcing the kickoff of the BTFC Peer Support Writing Group! We’re going from idea to draft in 6 weeks.
Have an idea for a film or pilot script you have been wanting to start or finish? Would in-person group support help you to the finish line? Do you like supporting others as they do the same? From Idea to Draft is a 6 week peer led screenwriting group to help you complete a first draft of a script.
Okay a few details…
FOR WHO: 6-8 storytellers committed to the dates and goal of the group. Once we reach 8 storytellers, the group will be closed until the next round. All members must commit to missing no more than 2 sessions.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE LEVEL: Basic knowledge of screenwriting format and structure required.
WHAT TO EXPECT: A supportive, no holds barred group of storytellers with a desire to get an idea out of our heads and on to paper. This is a peer support writing group.
REQUIRED: We will turn in pages (and questions we may have for the group) every Sunday to be discussed Wednesdays for 6 weeks. We all work differently and at different paces, but at the very least, we hope you can leave the group with a solid first draft ready to use as a guide to your second draft.
FIRST SESSION: During the first session we will turn in a log line, summary, and/or description of our idea(s) to be discussed, as well as introductions. From then on we will turn in something new, whether it’s a more fleshed out outline or the first 5 pages of our script. The goal is to work on our story and get feedback every step of way to help us move toward the finish line.
TO APPLY: Complete the form HERE.
